A Portland Institution Since 1948
The Portland Surgical Society is the only professional organization of its type in the Portland area. The society is an important educational forum for surgeons as well as a showcase for the achievements of many of our trainees. Perhaps most importantly, it provides a wonderful opportunity to renew the camaraderie and unique sense of fellowship that unites us within our community of surgeons.
The organization will only remain successful and vibrant with your support. The most important support you can provide is by participating in meetings and recruiting new members. If you have a new associate in your practice, please encourage them to complete a membership application.
Portland Surgical Society has quarterly social hour and speaker. Meetings start with a cocktail hour at 6:00 pm followed by a speaker. The meetings conclude about 8:00 pm.. Cost included in PSS dues, guests $50.

PSS dues are collected by the American College of Surgeons Oregon Chapter. The PSS and ACS Oregon boards elected to merge the two organizations in the fall of 2012. The dues for PSS pay for approximately 4 quarterly meeting dinners along with the annual banquet and scientific session held at the end of the academic year. The dues rates are:
$250 for Active Membership
$125 for Associate Membership
$100 for Retired Surgeons
Active Members: Active Members must be licensed physicians who are certified by a board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or possessed of qualifications equally acceptable to the Board of Directors, and whose practice is limited to general surgery or a surgical specialty, and who reside or practice in Multnomah, Washington, or Clackamas County in Oregon, or Clark County in Washington.
Associate Members: Associate Members shall possess the qualifications of Active Members, but reside and practice exclusively outside Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties in Oregon and Clark County in Washington.
Retired Members: The category is for retired surgeons. Retired members also have the option to pay per dinner/meeting; the cost will be $50
