Upon completion of this course, attendees can be expected to: Panel 1: Understand optimal surgical and endoscopic techniques while caring for obese patients with ventral hernias and GERD Panel 2: Describe advances in the field of surgical oncology regarding treatment of patients with colorectal cancer metastatic to the liver Tips and Tricks 1: Demonstrate the laparoscopic common bile duct exploration and explain the stepwise approach to this surgical technique. Tips and Tricks 2: Compare treatments for anorectal disease such as banding versus alternative treatments for hemorrhoids and setons versus fistulotomy for anal fistula. Scientific Sessions – Six abstract presentation sessions featuring 11 full presentations of 15 minutes, and 16 quick shot presentations of 8 minutes covering topics including… Full and Quickshot Presentations I: Identify factors that influence outcomes during cardiothoracic and oncologic surgeries; and describe rural surgery practices that have been successful at recruiting and retaining general surgeons. Full and Quickshot Presentations II: Analyze the impact of imaging studies and intraoperative histotripsy on outcomes in patients with breast and other cancers; and describe the impact of same day discharge in patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
