Dues provide a lot of benefits such as social events, education, CME opportunities, and advocacy. First, our Chapter joins with the Washington Chapter to produce a fantastic combined ACS Oregon-Washington Annual Meeting.
Also, the ACS Day at the Capitol and Winter Council meeting well be held on Sunday followed by a dinner with a guest speaker. Legislative affairs training and visits with legislators at the Oregon Capitol will be held on Monday. All members are invited to the dinner on Sunday and Monday morning for the Day at the Capitol meeting.
Also, the Portland Surgical Society (PSS), a long standing institution in the Portland area, has merged its operations with our Chapter. We invite you to join PSS. If you live in the tri- county Portland area or Clark County, WA dues are $250. Dues for retired non-practicing surgeons are $100. Dues to PSS are pre-payment for four quarterly dinner meetings and one annual banquet with a scientific session and CME hours.
Your Chapter dues help us to provide these great programs in Oregon, and we encourage all members to participate in the chapter in other ways. For assistance, please contact Harvey Gail, chapter administrator, at 503-371-7457.
Your ACS Governors
As a Fellow, you have a voice at the national level. A great way to be heard is to take your ideas and concerns to your local chapter Governor. They sit on the ACS Board of Governors at the national level. They are here to represent you! Oregon has two Chapter Governors and the region is represented also through a specialty society governor for the North Pacific Surgical Association.
Your Governors are:
Laurel Soot, MD, FACS - Oregon Governor
Brett Sheppard, MD, FACS - Oregon Governor
Martin Schreiber, MD, FACS - Specialty Society Governor, North Pacific Surgical Association
