Advanced Prosthetics - Dr. Albert Chi

Dr. Albert Chi: 

Dr. Chi is a trauma surgeon whose practice includes critical care, trauma and acute care surgery. Dr. Chi also has a background in biomedical engineering and a clinical research focused at improving the lives of individuals with traumatic injuries with an emphasis on motor control. He will be giving a lecture entitled “Bionics: The Evolution of Man of and Machine” which will highlight the state of art in prosthetics technology and surgery. His experience as a trauma surgeon motivated him to help create a new generation of advanced prosthetic limbs – including a thought-controlled bionic arm – that are dramatically changing lives and garnering national attention. One of his patients, Johnny Matheny of Port Richey, Florida, will join him  to demonstrate the extraordinary robotic arm that allows him to do everything from pick up a single grape to play the piano.
